We are pleased to announce the return of SPARKET, a weekly lunch time arts market in Crystal City, Virginia, for its third season. Spring SPARKET and Fall SPARKET will now run alongside a Food Truck event on Thursdays.
The Spring Sparket Market will operate on Thursdays, from 11am to 2pm, launching May 4 and running through June 29. The Fall Sparket Market will run from September 7 through November 16. A diverse mix of art, crafts, handmade jewelry, accessories, bath/beauty and other local and handcrafted products are desired. As an additional draw, live-music and select food products will be part of the programming mix.
Situated on the wide shaded sidewalk on the 1800 block of Crystal Drive, it is adjacent to the Crystal Shops mall, several popular restaurants and retail establishments. Crystal City Metro is 2 blocks away and there is plenty of public parking among major office buildings, apartments and hotels. Every Thursday a selected group of food trucks circle the parking located at the 18th Street corner.
The market is a collaborative effort between the Crystal City BID and Diverse Markets Management, (DMM). Crystal City, Arlington’s largest downtown, boasts excellent demographics. There are nearly 8000 residential units with an estimated average household income of $98,774.
Broad advertising of The Sparket Creative Market is planned by our co-sponsor, the Crystal City Business Improvement District, both regionally and targeted to the approximately 30,000 office workers, 16,000 residents, and nearly 5,000 hotel rooms.
Convenient and free adjacent loading and parking for the market as well as an affordable $30 space fee are among the markets’ considerable amenities. The market will be managed onsite by “Rudy” Coates and vendor relations and booking by Jessica Blaszczak, who is best known in Arlington as the long-time Market Manager of the Ballston Art Market.
